What is it?

Dermal fillers are a gel-like treatment made from hyaluronic acid, a substance your body naturally produces to keep skin hydrated and plump. Most of our fillers are blended with lidocaine to keep the appointment comfortable. At our Watkinsville medspa, serving Oconee County and the Athens area, our injectors use fillers to restore lost volume and add definition to the lips, cheeks, chin, and jawline.

Different Fillers for different corrections:

Volbella

  • Thinnest of the fillers

  • Best used for fine lines around the mouth, smoothing the lips and adding a small amount of volume.

  • Minimal swelling post-injection

  • Correction lasts about a year

Juvederm Ultra/Ultra Plus

  • Adds volume to the lower face to correct smile lines around the mouth or parentheses (nasolabial folds), corners of mouth, and in the lips.

  • Correction lasts about 1 year

Vollure

  • Slightly thicker than Volbella

  • Smooths and adds subtle volume

  • Best used in around the mouth, lips, under eyes (tear troughs), and areas of animation

  • Minimal swelling post-injection

  • Correction lasts 18 months

  • Thickest of the fillers

  • Lifts and contours the cheeks and can add projection to the chin.

What can I expect?

Appointment usually include 10-15 minutes of consultation, 20 minutes for topical numbing cream, and 20-30 minutes of injecting. Appointments are scheduled for 1 hour.

Typically the area of injection is swollen for 2-3 days, possible bruising can occur.

Final results at 2 weeks

Does it hurt?

Topical numbing cream or ice is applied to the area of injection to minimize any discomfort.

Are there any restrictions?

Avoid massaging the areas of filler or laying on the area of injection for 48 hours

Avoid exercise for 24 hours post-injection to minimize swelling.

Avoid alcohol and anti-inflammatories 2-3 days prior to injection to minimize bruising.

After Care

Ice the area of infection for 24-48 hours for swelling and bruising.

Take arnica for any bruising.
